tarot readings
I am not a psychic or a fortune teller. As a reader, my role is to tell you what the cards mean in their positions and allow you to decide how the meanings are relevant to your life. I will always encourage you to listen to your own intuition and lived experience above anything the cards may say. Let me be an enthusiastic, approachable guide to the art of tarot. Whether you are looking for a down-to-earth, reality-based reading or hoping to expand your knowledge of the medium, I look forward to inspiring you to take the next steps on your own journey. I love empowering others to listen to their intuition, feel comfortable in their skin, and learn how to become the person they want to be.
written readings
Written readings are excellent for an in-depth analysis of your spread. Sent via a beautiful and highly stylized PDF to your email inbox, this document will contain pictures of your cards, their meanings in the context of their position, and the greater story they tell together. It also includes journaling prompts crafted to help you better develop your own meaning and the lessons you want to take away from the experience.
live readings
Live readings are offered via Google Meet or Zoom and are great for querents who tend to have follow-up questions. In a live reading, you have the opportunity to ask for more clarity on the spread after it’s been laid. You are also able to request a written version of the live reading after your appointment.
FAQs
What is tarot?
Tarot is a form of divination and self-reflection through a card deck. A traditional tarot deck contains 78 cards; 22 Major Arcana and 56 Minor Arcana. The most common deck (and the deck I use in my practice) is the Colman-Smith deck, more often referred to as the Rider-Waite deck. There are as many ways to read tarot as there are people who practice the art form.
How long have you been reading tarot?
I’ve been reading tarot for over a decade. When I was younger, I used to hear that you should never buy your first tarot deck; it has to be gifted to you. Though I wanted one for years, I waited until I was given my very first deck for Christmas from one of my best friends with a copy of Tarot for Dummies. Over the years, I have practiced my skills through readings for myself and my loved ones, but really honed them by reading for others at various festivals and events. I no longer believe a person should wait to be gifted a deck. Many people grow up in cultures and communities that stigmatize the practice and are unlikely to ever receive tarot cards as a gift. I encourage anyone interested to acquire them, especially if you find yourself particularly drawn to a specific deck.
Are you a psychic?
No. I do not purport to be a psychic, medium, or fortune teller. I believe that reading tarot is an art form and a practice more akin to meditation and mindfulness. The cards hold a lot of symbolism, and every reader brings their own perspective, culture, biases, and subconscious into their practice. My aim in my readings is to give you a deeper connection to your own intuition and guide you to make decisions that align with your personal values.
Why do you practice tarot?
I was raised very secularly in the Deep South of the United States. Though my family didn’t really practice any religion, I was surrounded by it, culturally. Spirituality and iconography has always been really interesting to me. I, luckily, don’t have a lot of internalized religious trauma. I have always been an outside observer and skeptic of all belief systems that claim to have all of the answers or rely on any intangible, infallible source of power. There will always be extenuating circumstances beyond our control, and many people with less privilege than others to obtain control. Tarot helps me re-center myself in times of uncertainty and empowers me to trust that I am the leader of my own destiny.
Is this real?
Tarot, like all other spiritual practices, is as real as you make it. I don’t recommend anyone live their life by tarot any more than they should by astrology or any other metaphysical belief system. Tarot is a tool for gaining insight and connecting with your higher self. It is not a substitute for your own lived experience, knowledge, free will, or for professional counseling.
Why do you charge for your readings?
I am a multidisciplinary artist who struggles to put financial value on all of my work. Tarot reading is an art form, and I have put many years into honing my craft. At a time when there is a lot of anger, fear, and unrest in our world and so many creative endeavors are being crafted by AI, the art of human connection is more important now than ever before. Emotion, empathy, and compassion can never be fully automated. When you pay for my services, you are supporting my very human dream of sustaining myself through the art of creative expression.
